Updated w/photos...Travel... another year spent out of town...

I like to do this once in a while -- to keep track of the places I've been and the places I'm going. Much of this is debate travel.

The Oregon Coast in March, between national championships -- next year we'll be in Wyoming and Colorado...

Colorado (duh..." those aren't any of our mountains")

Wet debater feet in California in January. It is fun to introduce people to the Pacific.... even if it is cold.

and the Kearney Arch, the only place in Nebraska Clinton visited -- folks, there is much more to the state than THIS!!

Travel so far this year...
January: California, Missouri, Nebraska
February: Indianna
March: Oregon
April: -- home, the whole month... wow
May: Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota

travel to come this year...
June: Utah
July:... who knows... maybe Canada??? I think "Up North" counts.
August: Nebraska, Iowa
September: Nebraska and maybe Missouri
October: Nebraska, Missouri, maybe Colorado
November: Nebraska, Wisconsin
December: Nebraska...

can you tell hubby will be in Nebraska next year? Also -- there is good debate in Nebraska...

Do I underestimate the excitingness of Nebraska? Being a southern girl, maybe I'm missing out.

Abbey, you haven't missed much in not visiting Nebraksa.... we lived there for 9 years and I decided a long time ago that it was a better place to live than to visit....

The deal is that, as T-mac says, there is good debate there and often the closest good debate to be found in this area. Also, next year hubby will be teaching there, so I'll go for visits with him -- and it is between us and Colorado, so we spent some time there last month on vacation (Carhenge rocks... trust me...).

Oooh, that CO pic is beautiful!

I've seen most of Colorado and I really think that the Oregon coast is even more beautiful... Colorado is majestic, no doubt -- but the Oregon coast is spectacular in another way...

sadly, I'll be spending lots of time in Nebraska, which is far from majestic or spectacular.. sigh...

For your sake, I hope you will be in the eastern part of the state. I spent 2 awful years in North Platte and I would slit my wrists if I had to go back.

Liz -- you can rest assured it will be in Omaha... with occasional visits to Lincoln (but only as necessary to do my dissertation stuff... I really don't care for Lincoln).

I can't imagine doing two years in North Platte, goodness -- I get depressed when we stop for food.. living there -- eek. There are a couple of things I don't get about North Platte -- 1) I have several really good friends from there -- how did cool people come out of that hole? 2) Why do they need one-way streets? They have no traffic because they have no population!!!! Yet, they have a bunch of one-way streets that make it impossible to get off the highway quickly to get food --especially in a 15 passenger van...

ah, yes, "the ones" (Dewey and Jeffers) in North Platte, as we called them then. This was about 20 years ago. I really have no idea if things are the same or different there now. I SERIOUSLY avoid going near there.

Omaha always seemed ok though.

There is a comedienne who has a routine about North Platte being the most awful place. If I find her site, I'll post a link in comments.

Thanks Liz -- I saw her do the part that made it to Comedy Central -- hubby and I laughed really hard-- it was nice to see the whole thing.

North Platte's reaction was really funny... and typical Nebraskan. Half self-hating, half defensive and "if you don't like it leave" kinds of comments.
