and... a fun committee...

I'm on a committee this summer.

It's an important committee. Yea -- it's summer, I should be writing and sunning - -and playing with the cats -- but, this is an important thing that has to happen quickly.

The fun thing is that the other faculty on the committee are fantastic. They are all experienced, solid and practical. They are also a lot of fun. I've worked on other things with these folks and all have a good sense of what should happen.

I have no idea who the administrators are --- but, the faculty folks will make it good.

Are you getting paid for summer committee work? Bardiac raised this issue a few weeks ago, and I'm curious.

We are usually offered a nominal stipend for committee work that specifically takes place during the summer---it's very, very nominal (and I'm curious if it we'll actually see it this year since we have a change in the administration happening over the summer), but it recognizes that we are doing college-governance related work over the summer (unlike the usual writing, prep, that is uncompensated).

I'm glad you are enjoying it, so far! That's probably more important than even a small stipend.

There is no stipend for this one -- mostly because it's a committee lots of folks would like to be on, so they don't need an incentive.

I'll be getting a very decent stipend for doing a seminar next week on my dissertation topic and I taught summer at a very generous rate --- so, I think it's fair.

I'm glad that if you're one a summer committee, it's with good people. That makes all the difference in the world.
